September 29th Notes

It is Wednesday. The group has decided to go hunt the Grig leapers but the Behemoth stands up and snaps. One of the major support struts in the main leg has gone out. Flea and Big D work on the behemoth. Hikari and Jarl meditate. Everyone else has been roped into another one of Billy Bob’s stories. Davis brings in the lady that Joe scared out of her wits when he burst into a dragon in front of her escorting a bunch of kids. She is asking for a favor. That afternoon the orphan children are going to a lake to have lunch and the kids really want the dragon to come and play with them. The adults would like some added protection. Blaze, Allison, Xestro and Joe (with some reluctance) decide to go help them along with Billy, of course. Allison and Blaze fly a little above Billy Bob and the lady so we don’t have to listen to Billy’s stories. The lady shows us to the church where the kids are waiting where we see three adults with 30 kids. We all go together to the local pond an hour away. Blaze and Allison are recruited to carry all the stuff. The kids are so excited to see Joe and start climbing all over him. They all want dragon rides, but the adults add the restriction of no flying rides. We hear a bunch of kids by the lake start screaming. The kids are gathered around a worm like thing poking it with sticks. It is about 2 foot long and about 3 inches thick, tapered at both ends, a pinkish color. It is moving. It almost looks like the coloration of a worm wraths. It is evil. We know that worm wraths are evil, bipedal, made entirely of worms, wear cowboy hats, and dusters, and shoot anyone they come near. Joe distracts the kids to get them away from the worm. The worm starts moving along the edge of the lake. We wonder if we should follow it, but decide not to let it go because it is evil and Xestro strikes at it with his sword. The worm moves out of the way. Xestro tries to strike it again and the worm rears up and wraps around his arm. Blaze was going to carpet of adhesion it but decides against it. Blaze tries to befuddle it, but it doesn’t do anything. Allison tries to stun it with psionics, and it doesn’t do anything. Xestro grabs it and yanks on it and it starts inching its way up his arm. Xestro switches the sword to his other hand to try and saw on the worm. Blaze does an ice bolt to the worm and strikes perfectly and the worm froze and fell in chunks off of Xestro’s arm. Everyone stomps on the pieces especially Xestro. We go relieve Joe from the 20 kids hanging off of him. Lunch is served and Joe patrols the area, keeping the kids in sight. After lunch the kids start playing tag. Blaze and Allison are on patrol and after a while everyone is gathered together and we find that Little Hammie, five years old, is missing. Joe flies up immediately to see if he can find the little boy. As the rest of us are trying to figure out what to do, the lady screams and points to a ridge. She sees a worm wrathe holding a gun to Hammie’s head. We all head toward the worm wrathe. Joe tries to communicate with it, but it doesn’t respond. We spread out to see if it will look at one or the other of us. As far as we can tell, it is looking at the group of kids. Joe and Xestro see some motion in their peripheral vision. Joe turns and looks and sees behind the group of kids on the other side there are three worm wrathes with swords drawn. Joe and Xestro, yelling ambush, turn and run the other way. Joe is almost to the group of kids. Blaze shoots the wrathe holding Hammie in the arm with an ice bolt. It lets out an evil hiss. The three other respond to the hiss by aiming their weapons. The one holding Hammie shoots off the kid’s head. Allison is momentarily stunned by the horror of the image. One of the other wrathes shoots an ion bolt at the group of kids and Joe jumps in the way before the bolt hits them. Xestro is running for all he’s worth toward the worm wrathes on the other side. Blaze shoots another ice bolt into the monster’s head and several worms fall off of it. Joe stretches his body off to shield the whole group of kids and continues to take shots. Blaze protects stupefied Allison with armor of Ithan. One of the shots flies over Joe, but it hits one of the adults in the head. Blaze tries to shoot another ice bolt but misses. Then she sticks his body followed by a magic net that ensnares the monster. Allison tries to stun him, but he is still moving, so she shoots his gun to keep him from shooting out of the net. Xestro is almost to the guy he’s been running toward. The monster shoots at him, but he parries it with his sword. Joe singes one of the monsters that has been shooting him. The monster shoots back and Joe is starting to get really worn down. Blaze jumps on the hover cycle to go help the others and Allison shoots the gun again. Joe is now unconscious. Xestro continues to run and parry the shots coming toward him. The third monster shoots Joe again and that is the end of Joe. Xestro finally gets to the monster and gives him a death blow. He chops through its arm and halfway through its body and the worms are all going nuts. The other monsters start firing at Blaze now. Allison turns to try and help the others, leaving the one trapped under the net with its arm stuck to its body. Xestro’s monster no longer is in the shape of a man. Xestro hits him again to finish him off. All the worm bits fall to the ground, not moving. One of the monsters that was shooting at Blaze, noticed Xestro and shoots at him, but Xestro parries once again. Blaze gets shot again. Xestro picks up the rifle of the dead worms and runs toward the monster that shot at him yelling at the top of his lungs. Blaze lands her hovercycle and rolls off behind it for a shield. Her monster shoots at her again and hits her hovercycle. Xestro’s fires at him again and he parries again. Allison is continuting to go to the group. Xestro does an amazing parry that ricochets and hits the monster. He continues to run screaming toward the monster. Blaze’s hovercycle gets hit again. Allison makes it to the group of kids and makes sure that there is nothing that she can do for Joe. Xestro parries again. Blaze’s hovercycle is on its last leg. She only got it yesterday. Allison shoots the monster that has been shooting Blaze’s hovercycle. Xestro keeps parring. The other monster shoots at Allison, but she ducks behind Joe’s carcass just in time. Blaze gets shot and is in a bad way. Xestro is right at the monster right now, so he hit the rifle out of the way when the monster tries to hit him. Xestro strikes the monster with his sword. Blaze’s hovercycle is now capotes. She puts armor of ithan back on once again. Allison get on her wing board, riding behind, it and pops over Joe and heads toward the monster that is shooting Blaze. The monster by Xestro takes a swing at him and once again, Xestro parries. Xestro hits the monster with his sword and the worms are wiggling all over now. The one that was shooting Blaze shoots Allison’s wing board. Blaze puts carpet of adhesion on the monster. Allison shoots the monster with her fire bolt on her wing board. Xestro’s worm man starts to melt and he swings fast to get one more good hit, but he misses and all sorts of worms go heading off in different directions. Blaze shoots the remaining monster with an ice bolt. Allison charges the monster with her wing board. Her wing board stops, being stuck to the monster, and Allison does not stop. She does a somersault over the board and lands about 100 feet beyond the monster. She is out and hurting. The monster was pushed back, has a wing board stuck to it and is now aiming its gun at the sky now. It bends backwards and aims its gun at Allison shoots her. It shoots again and misses. Xestro goes running toward the monster yelling as loud as he can once again. The monster is attracted by the noise and shoots Xestro. Xestro’s armor is gone and he is hurting a lot. Blaze would like to do the net on the monster, but the wing board is in the way so she dispels the carpet of adhesion and the board slides off it. Xestro does a chi death blow to it and the worms explode and it is all worm bits. Blaze goes over to check on Allison. Xestro goes over to the guy covered with the net and stabs him with his sword, but cannot pull his sword back out because he is still stuck. Blaze can see Xestro’s predicament, so she dispels her carpet of adhesion. He can now move his sword so he hits it some more until it is worm goo. Blaze goes over to pay her respects to Joe. Xestro tries to track the worms that got away, but doesn’t have enough experience tracking worms. We get their weapons. We take the orphans back to the church and go get the rest of the group to help us bury Joe. Billy Bob was taking pics the whole time. Jarl goes to look at Joe and starts praying and Joe is brought back from the dead because of the sacrifice that he made.
