March 29th Notes
We are in the room with the High Priest and Allison is trying to get Hikari to tell the High Priest more so that we can have help. After a bit of chatting with the High priest the captain of the guard arrives with the rest of the group that was in the dudgeon. Blaze is able to observe that the government is a Theocracy and is very much war minded. From this knowledge she is able to get the help of the Priest by telling him that she was sent on the quest by her god, Zoarka. The Priest looks up the name “Zoarka” in a big book that Narash got for him and learns that our god is a noble being. He asks how he can help us and we ask for a guide and protections to get us through the land in the way of the item. The High Priest asks to see the Seeker. Blaze shows him and he gets a map to see where the seeker is pointing. There is a city in the direct line of the seeker’s pointing, Du Eindrel. He says that the city is very bad. It is known as one of the most evil and tortuous places on Wormwood. The ruler is known to be very vicious and he is a servant of the unholy and a powerful summoner. There is no underground in the city. We ask if there is anyone who could help us and he mentioned the Night’s Templar, but he doesn’t want to help if we are going to steal something from the unholy and stir up a hornet’s nest. We say that the item might help him but he isn’t really reassured. We pretty much give up on getting any help from him when Narash mentioned the Battle Saint that is there. A battle saint can only be activated by a priest of light and when it is not active it looks like a hill. It takes fifteen minutes to summon it and then the priest has to get into it. The city is going to notice it. It will help us but the pilot compartment is not sealed. It will make all the demons try to attack it. It might be up to figting them but that depends on how fast we were able to get out of the city once we roused it. If we could get a priest there and bring back the battle saint he would give us some assistance to get to the city. We should get the item before we get the battle saint if we can. We agree. The priest may need our magic energy to help him summon the battle saint. The High Priest says that it will take a couple of days to get everything together and we are welcome to stay in the temple while we wait.
As we are leaving one of the guards taps Gypsy on the shoulder and asks for some tecnowizard help. We tie Davis to Hikari. We want to know more about demons, so Blaze and Allison head toward the library. Gypsy and Crom head out with the guard that needed a tecnowizard. It has been a long time since they have had a tecnowizard in the area and his Harley isn’t working too well. When they get to his bike they find several Harleys and a 1970 car. Gypsy fixes the Harley for the guy. In the libray Allison is finding evrery book she can with the word “demon” in the title and brings it over to Blaze at a table. A wizened old man comes over and smacks her knuckle with a ruler and says, “stop that you are messing up the order of the books!” Allison doesn’t take kindly to this. She makes him mute and tells him that she will put them away when she is done. He smacks her again and she tries to paralyze him, but that doesn’t work, so she blinds him and he starts feeling all over the place and knocks over some books. Allison says, “watch out, you’re messing up the order of the books!” and then continues with her research. The captain of the guard comes and taps Blaze on the shoulder because Allison is in the library somewhere. He asks were Allison is right when they hear, “I found another one!” coming from the library. The Captain of the Guard, looking very stern, goes over to Allison with the librarian. The librarian says, “That’s her! That’s the witch! Burn her, burn her!” The Captain takes Allison into the hallway and tells her that he knows Brother Feltergast is extremely annoying but that is why they put him in the library. He makes Allison promise to apologize and leaves. Allison apologizes and then he tells Allison that he has to reshelf a whole lot of books. She starts to move them with telekinesis and the librarian doesn’t like that too much, so she does it by hand. Blaze asks the librarian to help her. She finds out that their idea of demons is just supernatural monsters. They usually have both magic and psionics. Then Blaze brown noses the librarian and gets praised enormously.
Gypsy figures out that there is a gem broken in the motorcycle he fixes the motorcycle for a ride. While he fixes the bike, a lot of other knights come up to him and ask him questions. Crom asks for weapons. Half of the core rides animals, half ride motorcycles. The commander gets the Mustang. All are TW converted. They also have some TW firearms that were passed down from the generations. Gypsy shows him his gun and they go out to the firing range and they ooh and aww. He is invited to go to the local barracks pub. They eat a meal at the pub of bugs and potatoes. Crom asks to challenge someone to a wrestling match. The knights say that he has to meat Ralf. Ralf is a 10 foot tall metal burnished copper and gold walking statue. He sticks out his hand and says, nice to meet you. They do a hand to hand fight with no weapons and the first one to give up looses. During the fight Ralf grows even bigger. Crom gets beat up really good and he taps out. Ralf helps him up and tells him that he has lasted longer than anyone in the last twenty years and says that when we need a friend we can call on him. He is under the command of the Knights Templar, though so he has to go where they send him.
Blaze and Allison go back to their rooms. On their way to their room they see someone carring Gypsy’s stuff so Allison asks where he is and goes to find them. Com and Gypsy go to the pub. The knights think it is cool how Crom drinks. Gypsy gets pretty drunk. Allison gets stopped and the door and the knight tells her that only warriors are allowed in the pub. She assures him that he is a warrior, but she has to prove it. There are plenty of volunteers to go test her prowess. They all file out of the bar to see the fight. Gypsy and Crom join them. They pick one of the less drunk knights to fight her. Allison is given a blunted sword and the other knight has one as well. The one who hits the appointment three times first wins. Allison uses emphatic transmission to cause her opponent to be confused. His eyes go a bit unfocused. Now she walks toward him with her sword down unthreateningly and gives him a big hug. She taps his back with the sword three times. There is silence from the crowd. Crom and Gypsy start laughing and then start applauding and then the rest cheer as well and she is let into the bar. Allison says that she is with Crom, but the guys don’t really buy it. The guys get her really drunk. After she has about ten free drinks, she passes out and Crom catches her. Her armor gets damaged from Crom’s spikes. Crom gets Gypsy and goes back to their rooms.
The next day Allison isn’t doing too good. She really wants Joe to put her back to sleep until she feels better. Brother Narash comes and tells us that we can leave tomorrow morning. Crom asks if Ralf can come with us and Brother Narash says that he will pass the request on to the High Priest. Blaze asks Narash if there is any magic shops in the city. Narash says that there is a famous mage in the city. Blaze, Crom and Gypsy go to find the mage. Allison declines the invite and Joe mercifully puts her to sleep. They get to the tower where the mage lives. It is about five stories tall with windows up higher and no door. Blaze levitates up to the closest window. There are heavy drapes over the first three windows. At the third window the drapes open, a woman screams and slams the drapes back closed. Blaze is saying, “Hello, are you a mage?” A bolt of lightning comes shooting out of the curtains toward her. She is able to just dodge the lightning by going up higher. The bolt singes her cloak while she is still saying, “I’m just here to visit.” Blaze starts to go down and the woman leans out the window with a wand and shoots another bolt at her. Blaze’s armor is blown to shreds. Gypsy gets out of the line of fire. Blaze puts on her armor of Ithan. The lady yells, “Demon, Monster!” and another bolt hits her. Blaze does a cloud of smoke to make it harder to hit her. The next bolt heads toward Crom and he jumps out of the way. Blaze is finally back on the ground. They decide it is time to leave.
Big Dee was disappointed with the food caves. They are just hollowed out land. The food is interesting because the food grows there in stocks.
Brother Narash sees Blaze’s armor and takes it that things didn’t go well. He tells her where she can get some more armor. The armorer brings her to a spring that looks like amber mucus and tells her to take off her clothes, throws powder on her and pours the stuff out the stream on her and then once it congeals he takes it off and says that it will be ready this afternoon. Gypsy gets some as well. Crom was told he can’t have any. This armor won’t interfere with magic, has 60 MDC and no prowl penalty the helmet has 25 MDC.
Allison wakes up in the late afternoon and joins the rest of the group. Allison wants some armor as well. Allison has to get naked and shave and all the nights from the bar the previous night come to watch. Allison wants marbles to entertain Davis so she asks the armorer for some little balls.
The next day the group assembles with the help from the Knights. We don’t get Ralf but we get Brother Narash, four Knights Templar and a Worm Speaker. The Wormspeaker greets Blaze first and worms start coming out of his mouth when he speaks. Blaze just barely holds onto her lunch and asks him to look the other way. When he greets Davis, Davis tells him that there is something in his mouth and he tries to grab one but gets his hand slapped away. We are told that he has great powers and the power comes from the worms. They are symbiots of Wormwood. The High Priest wishes us luck.
There are two tiles filled on the Seeker at this point. Blaze and Gypsy are going to fill the Seeker one and a half tiles a day.
It takes a day to get back to the foot hills. They are following the direction of the Seeker. In a couple of days we get to the mountains. The Knights caution us that we are now in the land of the unholy. The Seeker is now 6 tiles full. We find a path to cross the mountains. Crom sees a monster flying above us with a couple of riders on it. Allison tells Crom to shoot it since Blaze points out that it is tracking us. It falls out of the sky and we head toward the next ravine and go out of the mountains. We look back in the other ravine and see a large group of meaness going down it. On the way down the ravine we come across a corpse from the rider and Blaze searches it for weapons and money. Luckily she cleanses herself before she rejoins the group. Five days later (the Seeker is now full), we are all eating bugs now, we see a dark smudge on the horizon. We come to a forest like thing. It is like stalagmites, but smoother and crystal like. We can make our way through it, but they are pretty close together. We could go around it but it would take us a few extra days. We decide to go through it because it will give us cover from the flying scouts. There are bad guys either way so we are going for the evils of the forest.
