Summary Notes for February 9th
The robots have been defeated and now we get to decide what we are going to do. We all meet up at the behemoth explorer. Crom finally gets something to eat. We head back to Silverton. That evening Billy Bob tells them it is time to leave and pulls a very large chest out of a very small bag. He bows, takes one last group shot, blinds us all, and is gone when our eyesight returns. Allison and Blaze rejoice for a short while and then open the chest. It has enough gems for us all to retire.
While Blaze is studying in her room, Crom goes to her thinking she is the leader of the group and opens her door and waits in the doorway until she notices him. When she looks up he asks for a room and she guides him to an empty one.
When we get back to Silverton Blaze, Crom, Allison, Big Dee, Davis and Flea all head toward the Northern Gun store. The people make a wide berth around us. Crom is very excited to see all the guns but Blaze tells him that he has to wait to get any because Julius is out of town and we need his permission to get him on the contract. Davis tells Crom, “Don’t worry Thadius, I’ll take care of it.” Allison tries to get her Crescent board fixed, but the Devil man is not reasonable. (Blaze did not go with her)
The next morning a guy from the mercenary group that we just hired knocks on our door. He heard that we have gems and is interested in buying some of them since he is a tecnowizard. Allison gets him to look at her hovercycle. He said that he would fix it but he wants to go buy his gems first. She shows him up to the room where everyone is eating breakfast and we feel a presents fill the room.
The God that came to the other members of the group appears in three forms of a figure wearing a bright blue cloak and standing a little bit taller than each of them in front of Crom, Gypsy, and Allison and asks them if they will accept the challenge to right the balance of the megaverse. Gypsy and Allison agree. Crom looks at everyone and asks if this quest could include vengeance and the figure responds as long as vengeance is not carried to extremes. Crom agrees. All three of them are whispered words of advice. Then the three figures combine into one figure then tells us, “the quest has well begun but I am displeased with those who have possession of the items of power for you have not called upon their power. You need to do so in the future if you wish to prevail against the darkness.” He then fades away. We all become accepting of Crom. We all go over to Gypsy and welcome him to the group and tell him that he no longer has to buy the gems. We explain to him what is going on and tell him to go tie up his loose ends and we’ll see him in the morning.
Gypsy goes back to the mercenary group and gets fired and then returns back to the behemoth.
Allison and Blaze compare the book that had the legend to the scroll and they are the same. They discover that the Thraidec can heal people when you touch them with it and say, “Thraidec.” While experimenting with this, Blaze notices that a ruin on the Seeker is glowing. Davis gets back with a crate of weapons for Crom and everyone heads toward the ley line to open the rift to the next item.
The rift opens and it is only 8 feet tall so they will have to leave the behemoth. Jarl, Onida, and Zebulon stay with the behemoth. Everyone else grabs what they can and walk into the rift. White light forms around us and when it clears we see that we are on a large plain that stretches off in all directions. There are no hills, birds, sounds, grass, or dirt. The ground is a greenish grayish color that has a little bit of a give to it. It feels rough, but not like sand paper. Allison sees an aura that stretches off in every direction. She tells everyone that the ground is alive. All we can see the curve of the world in the horizon. Blaze doesn’t feel a ley line and the world feels disconnected to her. She is still able to perform her spells, though. We head in the directions that the seeker is headed. After three days we see a little bit of some mountains in the horizon. We realize that in those three days we have not seen anything living as well as any water. Blaze scouts ahead to see if she sees anything with Gypsy on her hovercycle. They see something in the air in the distance that looks like a cross between hammer head and a snake, then it disappears.
We go a little farther and Hikari raises the problem of that we only have one day of water left and we need to find water. The seeker has not registered any PPE yet and we wonder how long it is supposed to take to fill. No one remembers, though. We keep going forward toward the West. Blaze gets on her wing board to scout. Joe senses evil faintly coming from everywhere. We see some mountains off to the North and Crom tells us that lots of times water can be found in the mountains so we turn and head that way. They are odd looking mountains. They are smooth with no rocks or anything. They aren’t very big.
Blaze flies up toward the mountains and doesn’t see any water, but she does see a man running down one of the canyons in the mountains and behind him there about 2 dozen goblins chasing him carrying spears and short swords. They are about two miles away from the group, but not headed directly from the group. Blaze uses levitation and lifts the guy into the air and grabs him. He is screaming his head off. Blaze tries to tell him that she is saving him, but being a devil man doesn’t help that much. He faints and she brings him back to the group. Blaze explains what happened. Allison tries to heal him with the Thraidec, but he doesn’t appear to be hurt. Davis comes over and smacks him across the face and wakes him up. Flea says, “Hhhiii.” He faints again. Allison goes over and demands all the dee-bees to leave. Allison wants to find out about this guy and she asks Davis to wake him up again. When he wakes up Blaze uses the Thraidec and it works now. The guy is saying, “Where are they? Where are they?” Allison tells him that her friend saw that he was in trouble so she decided to remove him from that situation. She apologizes if her friend scared him. The guy asks Allison what side she is on. She responds the good side. The guy says that is a little vague and he asks if she serves the unholy. She responds that she is not from around here. And he says that he kind of noticed from the assortment of dee-bees. Allison says that all she knows is that goblins aren’t nice so we decided to save him from them. He asks if he is our prisoner and we respond only if he wants to be. He sits up and looks around and says, “If it is all the same to you, I’ll be going now.” We stop him and ask him about water. He says, “You are new to Wormwood aren’t you? Which side of the mountains are we on?” We respond that we are on the south side of the mountains. He can get us some water but we will have to go to the other side of the mountains. We ask how long it is going to take and he responds that it depends on if we get attacked by the forces of the unholy or not. While we were talking, Gypsy hikes to the top of the mountains to get a better vantage point. We look around and say, “The new guy is gone.” Blaze goes and gets him and asks why he didn’t use his hovercycle. Blaze flies up and sees the goblins are about an hour away. We ask the guy if the goblins were forces of the unholy, he says yes. He says he is Narash of the Layton Cathedral. Layton is toward the North. He says that he was traveling with the Vicar and was ambushed. The Vicar is dead and as far as he knows everyone else is dead as well. The Vicar was the second in command of the Cathedral. Goblins are nasty creatures that are known for being cannibalistic if there is no other food. They rely on group strength and numbers rather than strategy. They are evil and intelligent. They don’t have specific weaknesses. They are MDC. We decide to stay here and ambush the goblins. Crom sets everything up of how we are going to attack them. Blaze is up in the air to draw them toward her. Gypsy is on one side of the canyon to be a look out. The flying people are off to the side where the goblins won’t see them and the ones with the big guns are out in front where the goblins will see them first then the flying people will come in and fight once the goblins are engaged. We ask if Narash can help us and ask about his story. He says that he was traveling with the Vicar and was ambushed. The Vicar is dead and as far as he knows everyone else is dead as well. The Vicar was the second in command of the Cathedral.
The goblins see Blaze hovering in the air so they slow down and send some scouts to the top of the canyon to get better vantage points. The goblin that was sent up to where Gypsy was runs back to the group yelling. Gypsy shoots the goblin in the back and he goes tumbling down the hill. Crom hears the boom and starts running toward the mouth of the canyon. Several goblins take baskets off their backs and see some things flying out of them. The things resemble foot long piranhas with two scaly arms and evil glowing eyes. There are about 30 of them in the air. 15 go toward Blaze, 15 go toward Blaze. Gypsy says, “I should have used the chameleon on my armor.” Gypsy shoots the leader of the group, takes the shot and screams a bit and sends six warriors up toward Gypsy. Blaze flies toward her fish to get closer to Gypsy and get rid of her fish on the way. Allison is flying toward mouth of the canyon as fast as she can. Crom and Allison will get there in a minute. Blaze shoots a magic net toward the fish and misses them and before she can shoot again, the fish are on top her. Gypsy shoots a net through his shotgun and is able to snare 3 of them out of 15.
